BAR BIANCO - NOT JUST FOR WAITING

We offer seasonal cocktails, great wines, craft beers, artisanal spirits and house made bar snacks. Bar Bianco is an amazing place to have drinks with friends and is the perfect meeting place before or after a game, concert downtown or while you wait for dinner at the pizzeria. Bar Bianco is housed next door to the Original Pizzeria Bianco in beautiful Historic Heritage Square downtown Phoenix.

People come from all over Phoenix (all over the world, really) to eat at Pizzeria Bianco, which famously serves some of the finest pizza in the United States. The wait times can be long. Rather than asking diners to mill around Heritage Square for an hour (or more, on the weekends), the Bianco folks converted a historic home next door to the pizzeria into a pre-dinner drinks destination called Bar Bianco. The quaint charms of this creaky house bar are such that the waiting actually enhances the overall dining experience.

The bartenders, who keep a smart collection of spirits behind the bar, can make you pretty much anything. Take your drink out to the front porch and see if you can get one of the cats that roam the grounds to give you a nuzzle. Your table will be ready soon enough.

MEET CHRIS BIANCO

When Chris Bianco started Pizzeria Bianco in the back corner of a Phoenix grocery store in 1988, he had no idea that he would become a driving force in the artisanal pizza movement. All he knew was that his food would reflect the respect and sincere intention that he brings to each of his recipes, as the result of his relationships with farmers, local producers, customers, and staff.

Now the chef-owner of Pizzeria Bianco, with two locations in Phoenix, Arizona, along with two Pane Bianco restaurants. Bianco’s white-tablecloth restaurant Tratto, also in Phoenix, features handmade pastas and seasonal favorites with mainly local ingredients from artisans and farmers.

Bianco won the James Beard Award for Best Chef Southwest in 2003 —the first pizzaiolo to receive the honor— and helped spawn a generation of independent and artisanal pizzerias, lending his advice, wisdom, and food philosophies to dozens of fellow chefs and restaurateurs. it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Chris also developed Bianco DiNapoli tomatoes, an organic lineup of tomato products from California with partner Rob DiNapoli.
