Sam Braxten is an Arizonan musician and singer-songwriter.
Braxten grew up in the Capital of his home country Guatemala. It was the unfortunate events of September 11 2001, which shook Sam hard enough and lead him to write his very first song based on those events at the early age of just 11.
Braxten began his career in the local AZ music scene in 2006, when he joined a rock band in High School and started playing shows at local venues around the East Valley. He had a 6 year stint playing and touring with a number of local AZ bands that ranged from hard-core to pop-rock genres. His previous bands shared the stage with artists such as The Maine, Anarbor, Toad the Wet Sprocket, and Opiate for the Masses to name a few. Braxten decided to go solo in January 2012 after returning from performing live at The Sundance Film Festival in Provo Utah with his previous band "Beretta Sun".
Sam Braxten released his first EP, The Young & The Lost, on April 25, 2013 which was self-produced at his home studio. The EP featured 4 tracks, "Waiting","All day", "The young & the lost" and "Then you came in". the material circulated the internet on sites such as reverbnation.com, thesixtyone.com, and youtube.com. Throughout 2013-14 Sam Braxten promoted his material by playing shows in which he opened for artists such as "The Kottonmouth Kings" at the 2014 Pima County Fair in Arizona and band "The Cab" at The 2014 Muirstock Festival in UC San Diego. The EP was removed from online sources in 2014 as he felt he needed a much stronger production to kick-start his solo career. During this time Sam Braxten was also featured in a three page spread article about his music which was published in the SanTan Sun News on Dec. 7, 2013 which titles "Chandler Musician plays underground".
Beginning June 5th. 2014 and ending in October of that year Sam Braxten played every Thursday night at a local coffee shop in Gilbert "The Bold Roost". Every Thursday night he would feature local acts such as Thomas Knight, Lady KO, Miles to nowhere and highly acclaimed AZ band Bear Ghost.
Braxten's second EP, titled Chapter I, was released on May 9, 2015 at the main stage in Tempe Marketplace. This Debut EP features singles "Away from here" and "I Should've known" which were featured on KUKQ Phoenix radio stream for their local soundcheck show on April 1st, 2014. The EP also features songs "Let go (figure it out)" and "Burn it" which are part of his live set. The EP was well received by fans and locals. The EP was mixed and produced by Mike Oliver at Tuff Tones Studios and mastered by Grammy Award winner Gavin Lurssen (Bruno Mars, Foo Fighters, Elton John).
You can find and/or purchase "Chapter I" on Itunes, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Amazon and Youtube music.
